Volunteers
We always need volunteers to help provide safe and enjoyable races for all club members. Some of these are family and friends of our racing members, some of these are actual racing members sacrificing their race to help out, and some are special groups we invite along to help out.
If you can't race in a particular month, or if you are a friend family member who is coming along to watch, then maybe you can give a bit of time and effort back to the club to help out.
Juniors are invited to help out after the C-Grade Race has finished and they have caught their breath, under the supervision of an adult.
The marshalling positions we may need help with and the duties involved at Summerland Point, for example include:
-
Timing: Start each stopwatch as required for three different wave starts. Write down the finishing time of each competitor as they cross the line. Advise President or present committee member of any competitor failing to cross the line that has not advised of DNF (Did Not Finish).
-
Timing Assistant: Calling out the numbers of competitors as they cross the line.
-
Bike Exit, Mounting/Dismounting Line: Be sure helmets are secure on all riders. Enforce rule that requires competitors to push their bike across the Mounting Line before mounting and to dismount their bikes before crossing the Dismount Line upon return. Advise Race Director of any riders failing to do so.
-
